Can’t they spell out “2473” with the drugs like they often do?

Anybody know what it's worth a gram in the Kingdom? The cops use a figure of 1000$ a g in NZ. I'm guessing tenth of that ?

Best not to value that shit in dollars. If anyone is selling it should have a value like this.
I gram = one year behind bars.
2 grams = two years behind bars
3 grams or more = throw away the key.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I think you made typo. It might not be 100 but no less then 50usd I think. Usually they take is 1/4 of a gram per take. I never used it. But what I heard thats how they do it. around 10-15 usd per trip.. Sounds correct.bittermelon wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 2:47 pm Anybody know what it's worth a gram in the Kingdom? In Cambodia people have a choice of paying or going to jail. People with enough money dont go to jail.
There are no set rates, but a foreigner who is a small time dealer may be asked for $100,000 or jail. If they pay the $100,000 they dont go to jail. Those who cant afford the $100,000 go to jail.
There are foreigners in jail in Cambodia.
After maybe a year it is clear they cant come up with the money, and they offer to renegotiate. They may get out of jail for $30,000.
Cambodians just want money, and this is one way they get it.
The same thing applies to Cambodians. Those with money dont go to jail.

Officially it doesnt happen. Officially there is no corruption in Cambodia. As a result there is no set of standard charges. It is just decided for each individual case.
Also, what happens in one part of Cambodia can be very different from what happens in another part of Cambodia.
For many years in Sihanoukville police have been stopping people on motorbikes, and thinking of any excuse to get money from them. For things like no helmet, or no mirrors, people paid a relatively small amount of money. A couple of years ago, before they had to tackle real crime from the Chinese, they found a way to get much larger sums of money. They started stopping people and searching for drugs. When they found drugs, the demanded much more money. One person was stopped and they found a small amount of marijuana. Enough for personal use. They asked $1000. He only had $400 on him. They demanded he go to the ATM and get the rest. He told them he had no money in the bank. When they went to the bank, they found out that it was true. So they let him off with $400.
I was told about the $100,000 by an acquaintance of someone in jail, whose family could not raise the $100,000. I believe the charge was dealing. I was told it was small time.
In the past it was illegal for prostitutes to solicit at Wat Phnom (it probably still is). From time to time some of them get arrested. I have been told, those without money get 3 months in jail. Those with connections to pay, dont go to jail.
Its how the system works. It is common knowledge among Cambodians that if people with money commit a crime, they pay, and dont go to jail.
There are no set amounts. However, Cambodians are becoming aware of what crimes are considered serious in other countries, and set the amount accordingly.
