Cambodia to Construct New Building of ENT Centre
AKP Phnom Penh, October 07, 2019 --

Cambodia will construct a new building of Ears Nose Throat Centre (ENT Centre) with the financial support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

According to Deputy Country Director of KOICA in Cambodia Mr. Kang Hwang Wook, KOICA will provide US$8 million in grant aid to build the new building.

Expected to start construction in late December 2019 or early 2020, the project will be built on over 4,000 square metres at the Preah Ang Duong Hospital, said KOICA in a press release AKP received this afternoon.

The five-storey building will feature several advance equipment for diagnosis, treatment and operation, to help improve medical service of hospital, it pointed out.

Besides upgrading physical infrastructure, the capacity of specialist doctors and staff will be advanced via provision of in-service training programme and transferring advanced knowledge and sharing experience from Korean doctors.

US$8 Million worth ENT Centre to Operate Late Next Year

The under-construction Ear, Nose & Throat Centre (ENT Centre) in Preah Ang Duong Hospital of Phnom Penh Capital will be ready for operation late next year.

The update was shared during a recent inspection visit by Minister of Health H.E. Mam Bunheng, who urged the construction process to completed as planned in order to contribute to providing healthcare service to the public.

The existence of ENT centre of Preah Ang Duong Hospital will meet well the pending needs for such health care among Cambodians, said the minister.

Broken ground in March 2020, The ENT Centre is built under the grant from South Korea through Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and worth about US$8 million.

According to the ENT Centre construction plan, the building will consist of five floors and be equipped with advanced facilities for diagnosis, treatment and operation to bring the service in Cambodia to a new level.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the morning of Monday, March 28, 2022, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over the inauguration of the Ang Duong Hospital.
The five-storey Ear, Nose and Throat Treatment Center at Ang Duong Hospital began construction in March 2020 and was scheduled for completion by the end of 2021, but due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the project was delayed until the beginning of 2022.

The new building in Preah Ang Duong Hospital was constructed with the aid of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA),and is the result of diplomatic relations between the two countries.In addition to improving the physical infrastructure, the capacity of all specialist doctors and staff will be enhanced through training programs and the transfer of knowledge and know-how from Korean doctors and medical staff.

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Associate Professor Lou Ly Kheang, Director of Ang Duong Hospital, said this morning on August 21,2022, that the construction of the eight-storey hospital building, which began in April 2021, is now 90% completed.

He added that the hospital now has three new buildings: firstly, a three-storey ophthalmology building constructed with the help of the South Korean government, a five-storey ear, nose and throat building worth $ 8 million, also with the help of the South Korean government , and now a brand-new eight-storey building due to be completed in October 2022 .

The director of the hospital confirmed that the construction of new buildings was necessary in order to meet the needs of the increasing numbers of patients who come to receive services at the hospital; for example, in one day the hospital receives about 1,300 to 1,500 out-patients, mostly the general population and factory workers, and there are an average of 130 surgical operations a day, mostly ear, eye, nose and throat surgeries.

KOICA & Soonchunhyang University Medical Centre to Provide Training Programme for Preah Ang Duong Hospital
AKP Phnom Penh, August 20, 2022 --

Two more participants from the Preah Ang Duong Hospital will pursue their study in the Republic of Korea for the “Invitational Training Programme-Medical Equipment and Facility Managers” under the “Project for Capacity Building of Ears Nose Throat (ENT) Centre in Preah Ang Doung Hospital” from Aug. 23 to Sept. 5, 2022.

The goal of this 14-day training programme is to improve knowledge and management skill regarding medical equipment and facility management in the hospital through a)-Capacity building of facility management (safety, maintenance, long-term facility utilisation plan, etc.), and b)-Capacity building of medical equipment management (Medical equipment maintenance).

In the year 2022, KOICA already invited six doctors from Preah Ang Duong Hospital to attend a training course on “Invitation Training Program-Doctor” in the Republic of Korea from May 11 to May 31 (21 days) for 3 doctors, and from May 11 to June 9 (30 days) for 3 other doctors. KOICA also invited one more doctor and seven nurses from the Preah Ang Duong Hospital to pursue their study in the Republic of Korea to the “Invitational Training Programme- Nurse” from July 10 to 23 (14 days). And there will be another invitational training programme for five management staffs from Preah Ang Duong Hospital including director of hospital from Sept. 21 to 27 (7days).

Preah Ang Duong hospital team in South Korea for training week

Another five members of the Preah Ang Duong Hospital management team will be in South Korea for a seven-day training aimed at improving management skills in day-to-day hospital operations and the establishment of master plans .

They join the training – set for September 21-27 under the “Project for Capacity Building of the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Centre in Preah Ang Doung Hospital” – at the invitation of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Soonchunhyang University Hospital.

To facilitate the training, KOICA Cambodia held a pre-departure orientation for them on September 19, aiming to ease their entry into Korean culture and enable them to make the most of their time there.

Preah Ang Duong Hospital pledges free treatment for 100 patients from patients in Dangkor district

Preah Ang Duong Hospital (PADH) will provide consultation services and medical treatments to around 100 patients who have diseases of the eyes, ears, nose and throat from the Green Bethel Community of the capital’s Dangkor district.

The pledge was made by Nong Manith, deputy director of PADH, during a “social activity” event in Green Bethel Community on November 25, co-organized by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), PADH and the Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA).

According to KOICA’s press statement, Nong Manith said this was the first time that PADH has worked with KOICA. He said he looked forward to working with KOICA on this kind of activity in the future.
