Khmer Times Newspaper says Phnom Penh tap water safe to drink?

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

wow, never had one of those in 30 years LOL
so 30x12x$5 $1,800!!!
No you clutz. It's $5 per month and that's if your wasting it like I do. 1 M2 or 2 should be suffient for most. that's about 30c p m.
Of course the f'ing Khmer charge double or more on the water as well.

Bottled water per 20l is 2000R. 50c again bloody Sino Khmers I should imagine, as it's very epnsive for water. Thailand sounds like almost half for somewhere the GDP is double or more, KOW KOW KOW

Nothing is for free in Cambodia except disease and death.

I don’t drink water...fish fuck in it...stick to beer, much safer. In saying that, I boil the tap water for the missus to drink, brush my teeth with water from the tap, no problems!

As I mentioned previously, I drink tap water (unboiled).

What are you guys boiling your tap water in?

In the past we used to boil tap water, but in a large aluminium (aluminum) pot. This water always had a gray haze on the surface after boiling.

Not for me they ain't and never have been.I didn't even bother connecting up to the water in Otres. Too much shit in it. People I know had it tested.
The rest of my time in Cambodia I have rented 4 + years and I have always paid 2000R per M3. What it is supposed to be and what it is are two very different things in this country. Find a good landlord I hear you say? I still haven't found one in 4 + years. How long should it bloody take?

Oh, and it's not just a foreigner thing, they charged the young students I was living with over double as well. Such greed is uncomprehendable.

Drilling the well, water pump+repairs, plumbing, storage tank... You're still paying for it. My yearly bill is less than $50.

Lucky you.Water plus electric this month for me will be $65 when it should really be $32.50. 12 x 65 = 780 instead of 390. :dm:
