Khmer Man Carrying Drugs Arrested by Vietnamese Military

Cambodia News, (Mondulkiri Province): A 30-year-old Cambodian man was arrested by the Vietnamese military while crossing the border into Vietnam from Mondulkiri province, Cambodia.
Mondulkiri provincial police obtained news on the morning of Thursday, December 16, 2021, that Vietnamese border military officers had arrested a Cambodian man in possession of nearly a kilogram of drugs, the previous day, at around 3pm on 15 December.

According to the police, the suspect was identified as Pich Phanna, 37, a Cambodian national living in La Pak village, Sre Khtom commune, Keo Seima district, Mondulkiri province, and he was intercepted carrying 10 large bags of drugs weighing a total of 988 grams.

The suspect is currently being interrogated by the Vietnamese military at Post 789 in Binh Phuoc province for further questioning.

Don't know about looking gay but could be looking at a death sentence.

I would have suggested different poses and maybe a bit of pixelation for good measure. And obviously everybody needs to look in the damn camera. I feel for the competent cameraman

Depends on what it is. It seems smugglers are treated more lightly than producers or sellers, which does seem odd.

Those convicted of possessing or smuggling more than 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine face the death penalty. The production or sale of 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal narcotics is also punishable by death.


Apparently Vietnam do carry out these death sentences although the numbers and methods are a state secret.
