Khmer guy shot in SHV

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Khmer guy shot in SHV

Post by Jamie_Lambo »

Was in Snookys bar the other night when there was a loud gunshot from across the street, then less than 5minutes later about 10-12 motobikes turned up and proceded to kick the hell out of some guy on the floor, there was a couple of police amongst them and whilst the rest of this crowd of khmer guys continued to beat this guy they managed to arrest him and get him on the back of the bike before driving off, a few seconds later an ambulance turned up and went off in the direction of the police, some of the crowd that had turned up on the bikes was filming it (as they do) so was wondering if anything had shown up online anywhere?
the only explanation we could come up with was he had tried breaking into the house and was shot either before or during his escape, but thats just pure guesswork, one of the khmer guys seemed especially pissed off with the guy that was injured and arrested

Damn. Haven't seen anything on Facebook today regarding that.

Nothing like a quiet night in Snooky.

it was pretty much directly opposite Snooky bar if i remember right it was saturday night at around 9pm, theres a bit of a fenced off courtyard and the big gate appeared to be open, after hearing the gun shot there seemed to be a fair bit of commotion coming from the big building at the bottom of the courtyard (could be apartment block not sure it was dark, just remember seeing people looking out a window and a lot of moving about) then when all the bikes showed up a few minutes later coming from the total garage direction pulled up flashing their headlights in this courtyard place then everyone running over and beating this guy that was already laid on the floor that we didnt spot before

It's a very ugly scene to see 10 men beating on one laying on the ground, even if he hasn't been shot already. Reminds me of school.

Unfortunately I have seen too many robbers beaten to death around the world. In Zanzibar they will do it in front of tourist restaurants. One 16 yo guy had apparently stolen an apple.
The person who puts the last boot in gets blamed. Quite interesting to see the 'brave' men at end showing who is hard enough
