Good catch. I actually didn't even look at the pictures....I have had enough of crash porn and don't like seeing it anymore. Looking them over, I completely agree with you.

Bottom line:
There's only one law in Cambodia; the law of tonnage. If it's heavier than you, it has the right of way.
There's only one rule in Cambodia; NEVER TOUCH ANYTHING AND NEVER LET ANYTHING TOUCH YOU WHILE DRIVING!

The family have reached out to friends to raise money for funeral expenses. They may want to repatriate the body since his family are all still in the US. RIP.

Not wanting to be a smart-arse here but can they send the body back to USA if he is not a American Citizen?

Valid question. I don't really know, but based on how most laws work, I don't think there would be a restriction on sending a corpse from various countries to the US. It's not like the deceased has to have a passport when he 'travels,' but I don't know. I would assume it's quite a process and they probably worry about sanitation/diseases, but I doubt they have to have American citizenship.Arget wrote:Not wanting to be a smart-arse here but can they send the body back to USA if he is not a American Citizen?

Re: Khmer American Dies in Phnom Penh Moto Accident
I just had to Google that, and it seems like the deciding factor of whether you can ship a body to the US is if the cause of death was a communicable disease, which is determined by the mandatory 'cause of death" certificate.
So it looks like if you died in a motorbike accident in Cambodia and have a death certificate stating so, then you should have no issues getting a body shipped to the US.
Guidance for Importation of Human Remains into the United States for Interment or Subsequent Cremation:

Re: Khmer American Dies in Phnom Penh Moto Accident
Extremely unfortunate and sad. The accident itself is brutal.
The whole issue of the deportees is equally sad and unfortunate, given the circumstances of how they arrived and why. The parents did not know what and how to do what they needed to do for citizenship and should have had advocates. The kids could quite naturally fall into crime being in underprivileged circumstances with damaged parents, most likely suffering PTSD and depression. These people deserve clemency, and the whole situation in regards to this should be reviewed under human rights and humanitarian reasons.
RIP Sophorn, and my sincerest condolences to his family who lost him twice and have suffered a lot! I am pleased to see that the go fund me has exceeded its goal. This was a worthy cause.
