Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: On 6 September 2018, police arrested the Pass-App taxi-driver who is suspected of robbing a 43-year-old Japanese man in Phnom Penh on 1 September.

Mr SATOSHI KADOYA was robbed by a taxi driver on street 113, Khan Chamkar Morn, Phnom Penh, after leaving Miyamik restaurant at around 2:30am on September 1. The victim said that he called a Pass-App Taxi to take him home and that he paid the driver $5 on arrival. However, when the Japanese man pulled out his wallet to pay the $5, the taxi driver saw that he had thousands of US dollars cash, so he grabbed the wallet with all the money and sped off in his taxi.

Lieutenant Cheav Vibol reported that on September 6 the police arrested the suspect, Bum Moa, for questioning at the Department of Criminal Police, after the Japanese man filed charges claiming he had nearly $20,000 stolen by the taxi driver. The suspect confessed that he had stolen the wallet, but said it contained only $10,000, which he hid inside his house. After searching the suspect's house, police found $9,800 hidden away, and they also confiscated his telephone and a Camry car.

For such a small amount you would do that? It is only couple weeks salary for you now in hurricane season.
Why would you do that?

Japs are too trustworthy.

I once met a Jap in Bangkok who told me an African man befriended him and asked the Jap if he could look at his wallet. When the Jap showed the African his wallet, he took of like Usain Bolt.

The guy wasn’t sure if he was carrying $20,000 or $10,000? Must have been plenty drunk. Plus that kind of money is really thick and doesn’t fit a folded wallet to well, even in $100 bills.
