Phnom Penh: On May 29 at 4 am, a 40 year old Italian tourist man, CHRISTIAN PATELLA, was arrested for breaking ATM of ABA bank on street 172/51, Sangkat Psar Thmey 3, Khan Don Penh, Phnom Penh.

The suspect have been detained at police station for preparing the case according to the procedure.

An Italian tourist arrested over breaking ATM machine
- A 40 year-old Italian man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with breaking ABA Bank’s ATM Machine over his anger that he could not withdraw his money from the ATM.

Captain Long Vichet, a police officer with Daun Penh District Police, identified the suspect as Patella Christian. He was accused by police of intentionally causing damage and faces punishment from 6 months to 2 years in jail if convicted.

Capt Vichet said that at about 4: 45 am on Tuesday, the suspect went to the ABA Bank’s ATM Machine located on Street 172 in Daun Penh district’s Phsar Thmey 3 and wanted to withdraw his money from the ATM.

He added that the suspect was trying to get the money from the machine, but it did not work. “He was angry at the ATM machine because he could not get the money. Then, he punched the machine and broke the mirrors,” Capt Vichet said.

He said that after breaking the ATM machine, the suspect managed to flee, but police arrested him a few hours later.
