Yesterday, 6 December 2016, the appeals court upheld the sentences for the Australian woman, Yoshe Ann Taylor (23 years), and also for Charlene Savarino (25 years) and the ringleader, Precious Chineme Nwoko (27 years).

The huge hole in Yoshe Taylor's sad story that she was in love with the Nigerian, who betrayed her, is that she was traveling to Australia with 19yo Frenchwoman, Charlene Savarino, who was also the Nigerian's girlfriend. Who did she think Charlene was ... his sister or something ?
At their trials, Ms. Yoshe and Ms. Savarino said the drugs were not theirs and only belonged to Mr. Chneme Nwoko, who allegedly asked them to send it to someone living in Australia.

It was later revealed that Ms. Savarino and Mr. Chneme Nwoko were a couple.

Mr. Chneme Nwoko allegedly believed it would be easier for the women to smuggle the drugs into Australia because Ms. Yoshe was a citizen of the country.
It's also revealed that two other convicted Nigerians are on the run. Since the bust was on 16 September 2016, I suppose they have left Cambodia by now.
Police are now searching for “Martin,” 39, and “Antony,” 27, who were both convicted in absentia and sentenced to 27 years in prison. Warrants for their arrest have been issued.

One more strange thing about the reporting of this case is that both Khmer and English news media only show photos of the French woman and the Nigerian man leaving the court, but not the Australian woman. Any guesses why ?

Here are the answers to your questions, taken from this SMH article: http://www.smh.com.au/world/australian- ... t52ru.html

Yes, afraid it is. He has also been acting precious.
But Precious Chineme Nwoko, a 27-year-old Nigerian-born convicted conman and drug trafficker, became enraged when he was questioned about dating scams by journalists.

The Australian media appear to believe that Yoshe Taylor was so in love that she didn't notice the second girlfriend. Charlene's presence and conviction is never mentioned in Australian news stories about Yoshe Taylor's "love-scam" as they call it. Charlene doesn't fit in to the story of true love between Yoshe and Precious, so her part has been written out.
The decision will shatter the hopes of Yoshe Ann Taylor's early release from one of Cambodia's notorious jails after her conviction three years ago on charges which lawyers and others involved in the case are convinced was a miscarriage of justice.

TIC.
Taylor, a mother of two from Queensland, wasn't brought to the court to hear the decision on Tuesday because of a mix-up with the transfer from jail.

Australian love-scam victim wins her appeal in Cambodia
By Luke McMahon
Updated23 July 2018 — 4:47pmfirst published at 4:41pm
An Australian woman serving a 23-year prison sentence in Cambodia has achieved a stunning legal victory after her 2014 drug smuggling conviction was quashed by Cambodia’s Supreme Court.

The woman, 46-year-old Yoshe Ann Taylor, a kindergarten teacher and mother of two from Queensland, fell victim to an internet scam, revealed by Fairfax Media in 2016 to have been run by an international drug smuggling syndicate..

Ms Taylor, who was lured to the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh on the promise of starting a business in the arts and crafts, was arrested at the airport in September 2013 after being caught trying to leave the Cambodia with two kilograms of heroin concealed in her luggage.

The Cambodia Supreme Court’s decision means that her case will now be remitted to the Cambodian Court of Appeal to be redetermined.

Unbeknown to Cambodian authorities at the time of Taylor’s 2014 trial, or her unsuccessful appeal in 2016, her co-accused, Nigerian national, Nwoko Precious Chineme, who went by the online pseudonym "Precious Max", had duped several other Australian nationals caught entering Australia with drugs after making similar trips [from] Cambodia.

How utterly ridiculous. All the inconsistencies that were shown up earlier on this very thread have conveniently been ignored. How many times in the history of the world has a man been able to claim he was duped by love and tricked into carrying 2 kilos of heroin? Pretty much zero. While I think the sentences for drug trafficking are on the heavy side here (compared to rape/ murder for example), they aren't as bad as some of the neighboring countries and serve as a deterrent. This "I was in love and the guy just seemed so lush" garbage is insulting to women's intelligence. And that poor kid Charlene is still rotting in CC 2 I'd imagine.
Does the Australian government really want to continue whitewashing loons like Ricketson and this woman?

She looks pinned out too.

Strange coincidence then. The names are near enough identical.

French national Charlene Savarino (R), and Australian national Yoshe Ann Taylor (C) are escorted by a Cambodian police officer (L), upon arrival at the municipal court in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 28 May 2014. The court ruled sentences between 23 and 27 years in prison for three foreigners, French Charlene Savarino, Australian Yoshe Ann Taylor and Nigerian Precious Chineme Nwoko, after finding them guilty of trafficking two kilograms of heroin.
