Innocent officials accused of corruption are declared innocent by ACU.
I was sure they were innocent all along, but it's encouraging to see the ACU working so hard to stamp out corruption in Cambodia. Keep up the good work guys.

Mr. Sarin was accused of buying electrical appliances for an amount higher than the appliance’s market price. He was also accused of stealing state assets since 2000. Refrigerators and air-conditioners were among the items allegedly purchased.
“The electrical material he bought to decorate or repair the Senate office was a decent price in the market. It was not more expensive than the price in the market as mentioned in the accusations,” the ACU’s letter said about Mr. Sarin’s purchases.
It added that the accusation of stealing state material was not true.
Mr. Preah Khann was accused of using the national budget to purchase luxury cars for personal use, using state-owned vehicles for personal use, appointing six relatives, children, nephews or nieces to positions in the Senate, ordering offices under Senate control to pay him monthly fees and protecting the names of so-called ghost officials who routinely skipped work.
The ACU’s letter denied all the accusations.
“He did not have the right to take the national budget to buy a car for his own use, but he used his own money to buy his car. He has enough paperwork to prove that. And he did not use state vehicles at will either,” the letter said.
Mr. Preah Khann added that only his two daughters work in the Senate and were recruited as the result of an exam. Other officials with the same family name as his were not his children or relatives, he said. They just happened to have the same family name.
Mr. Sothkun and Mr. Vuthearith were accused of using state vehicles for personal use, oppressing officials under their command, nepotism, stealing state funds, protecting ghost officials, calling on officials in the Senate to work for their private interests, reportedly buying materials for higher prices than market value, forging budget proposals and allowing ghost officials to work outside the Senate.
According to the ACU, Mr. Sothkun and Mr. Vuthearith denied all the accusations...

Using government vehicles for their own use, or business , That would never happen. Just ask the guys in the military . Here's a photo of a military truck with military plates delivering a load of salt, probably from Kampot ? but at least it's more legit than transporting timber.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

You are prob right. But the details of the new company or partnership [ Bla Bla Bla co LTD ] will never be seen, along with the details of how much they lease the trucks for or who pays for the maintainance , gas etc.Barang_doa_slae wrote:Didn't the governement allowed a couple of years back army battalions to form partnership with private companies ? Who cares? Unless the army are in direct competition with your business, then i suggest pack up and leave. Unless you have a few hundred men armed with AKs.Duncan wrote:You are prob right. IMHO, I don't mind it here, it is known and open as you say. You know to expect it and should not be surprised when it happens.
As you say, it is also happening in the west but ''hidden'' one way or another. At least here you know exactly what is happening and you either accept it or don't.

True, singapore is perceived as 90% corrupt free, but it is happening at a more sublime level, big companies are encouraged to donate for big events, i.e national day celebrations etc, those that do donate will have better access to markets.SinnSisamouth wrote:oh look another thread complaining about corruption in a country we are guests in

And look at lobbyists in the US.
