Check the covid-19 insurance which appears now to be mandatory in Cambodia. Mandatory as in the government wants you to purchase ahead of your arrival a Cambodian policy.

This is what I got from them yesterday. I had posted this just now on another thread but I guess it wont hurt to add it here as well. Cut and paste from the email:

To enter Cambodia, you must show:

Health Certificate of Covid 19 Negative
Insurance Certificate with effective before or date you arrive Cambodia. Only from Forte Insurance Cambodia.

Quotation:

Period 20 day, price $ 90
Period 1 month, price $ 120
Period 3 month, price $ 250

Ministry Urges Strict Watch After Two Flee From Covid-19 Quarantine

The Health Ministry has instructed Phnom Penh and provincial authorities to tighten security at Covid-19 quarantine centers after two men who have tested negative escaped from a designated site in Prey Veng province for several hours on Monday.

Health Ministry spokesperson Or Vandine said on Tuesday that government-mandated quarantines had generally gone smoothly since the government lifted travel restrictions in May, but some individuals had managed to flee from quarantine centers.

would like the local authorities and law enforcement officers to increase their ability in guarding more strictly to avoid escapes from the quarantine center,” Vandine said.

She asked all those who are placed in quarantine to be patient, and warned that those who violate quarantine requirements could be punished under the law. Vandine said that a quarantine escapist can be fined on-the-spot between 200,000 and 1 million riel ($50 to $250), while a person who escapes after testing positive for Covid-19 could be criminally charged.

“If people try to escape from the quarantine centers, it is a wrongdoing, and authorities and the Health Ministry will question and evaluate [the violation] according to the level and size of your action, and the working group will decide how to fine [you for] the crime,” she said.

The ministry announcement came after two Cambodian men who returned from Malaysia on July 23 fled from quarantine in Prey Veng on Monday and were found by authorities several hours later.

Prey Veng provincial deputy governor Chan Tha said the pair, ages 21 and 32, had skipped out on quarantine on Monday at about 4:30 p.m. after 12 days in a Prey Veng high school. The first man was found at 8:30 p.m. in Prey To Toeng commune and the second at 9:15 p.m. in Prek Changkran commune, both within the province’s Sithor Kandal district, Tha said.

They both had tested negative for the virus three times, he said, adding that this was the reason they told authorities that they decided to leave the quarantine site.

“They do not understand their duties. They have duties to stay in quarantine for 14 days based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Health but they are careless,” Tha said. “They said three sample tests were always negative so they think that they do not have the disease and they escaped.”

With nearly 250 cases confirmed so far, statistically they should of had a death or two and certainly some with very serious complications. It would be interesting to know what the ages of all the 248 have been, what level of medical care they needed, were any in the intensive care units, any intubated?

Or did they all walk out the door after a week or so being bored out of their brains in a hospital bed with only the occasional nasal swab up their hooters for entertainment?

Uganda had 6 of 1200.

Sri Lanka 11 of 2900.

Thailand 58 of 3351.

Hong Kong 51 of 4000.

Basic precautions ignored at capital’s air departure lounge

Major precautions are being taken to curb COVID-19 within Cambodia, yet smaller everyday preventions are being neglected at Phnom Penh airport’s departure lounge.

On Aug 1, flights to and from Malaysia were banned because of the number of COVID-19 cases coming into the Kingdom from outside the country. The ban on these flights is aimed to curb the spread of the pandemic to the public when Cambodia celebrates the significant Khmer New Year holiday from Aug 17 until Aug 21.

This week in a turn of events 10 insurance companies were approved by the Ministry of Economy and Finance to insure certified business travellers to enter Cambodia during the pandemic. But this does not come without precautions including a COVID-19 negative test done within the last 72 hours of entering Cambodia, COVID medical examination on arrival and a $2,000 deposit on the way in.

The Health Ministry this week reported more cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the Kingdom to 243, with 210 recovered, 219 imported, 24 local infections – but no deaths.

Prime Minister HE has also recently warned people not to forget to protect themselves from the virus by following all recommended hygiene and transmission prevention measures. He said he had observed that the population is becoming less cautious of the disease than before.

“People should be very careful and not underestimate the Coronavirus because the respiratory disease is deadly and there is no cure for it yet,” he said.

That being said, the precautions at the departure lounge of Phnom Penh International airport seem to be slacking. Although a lot of people seem to be abiding by wearing masks and some people even wearing full protective suits, the majority of people are not sticking to social-distancing rules.

Furthermore, there were no temperature checks being taken on the way into the departure lounge and no sign of any hand sanitisers.
