Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

if they dont have deep pockets to go on for the next 6 months.......its over for them
Even if the virus deaths ceased on the 15th, ( which wont happen) and there are NO new cases, ( another wont happen) it will take months till things return to normal

when SARS hit in 2003, ( which was not global, only hit like 24 countries) which was nothing like the financial crisis this is causing,
it took 6 months to start to recover.

When speaking to expats in the region and looking at certain indicators it looks like there is a economic catastrophy coming. It’s not the virus, it’s the fear of it.
During SARS, HK got hit hard but most tourist destinations didn’t get effected that much, PP didn’t even count back then. If you dig deeper here, you can see it already happening. The thousands of laid off garment worker and hotel staff are already causing families to have hardship that they didn’t have for the past 10 or so boom years.
I might get a few dodgy responses for that one but we all know that most of the bargirls on Riverside are living “paycheque to paycheque”, ie they need daily monetary supply so imagine how f*cked 😖 they are if people stay away for the next few months.

2 More in Phnom Penh.

I think it says....1 49 year old Canadian and a 33 year old from Belgium. Someone with better translating skills might read it differently.
