Re: Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates April 2021)
So they cancel the lockdown and allow people to travel far and wide opening the flood gates of covid.
Yesterday they announced that there were 488 new cases. There were only 460 the previous day.
Today we have 560 new cases.
What are the bookies odds of another increase tomorrow? and the next day? and . . . . .
btw, I've found a brewery. Anyone around here know how to organize a piss-up?

From a post of the list of cases in PP today:
"250 new infections for PP today, which is again slightly higher. But looking at the list there are nearly 100 cases in a single construction site in Sen Sok, quite a few cases at High Tech water company, and again lots of factory workers. It's still looking mostly very contained."

Seriously, they have made a policy change. From panic, to lockdown, and vaccinate the important people (twice when they found out that is needed). Now this has been largely achieved they have now gone to money and the economy being their #1 priority while keeping the noise going about Covid protection measures.
At what point will they have Panic 2.0? As the vaccinated chart goes up, so too does the infection rate and then the death rate. What is their tolerable scenario and at what point is it back to closures and lockdowns?

I do feel like they have opened up surprisingly quickly. I thought they would maintain the red/orange/yellow regime a bit longer until they were down to single digit events. Perhaps they are just going to continue to be reactive, with red zones popping up every time they get an outbreak? Probably worth keeping the kitchen stocked up. It is definitely time to get a few slabs of beer hauled upstairs and start restocking the freezer. And also time to do a few nice lunches while the restaurants are open again. State-run markets were supposed to reopen today but the Old Market remains closed. Are Kandal and/or Central markets open?

There are many of these former (rent paying) market vendors that have got hold of carts and now are fly-pitching in the open air and might well be serving customers more customers that wouldn't set foot in those stink pits in Kandal markets. Some might prefer this trading method.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 9:45 am State-run markets were supposed to reopen today but the Old Market remains closed. What's the betting as soon as the markets open the police start hassling the new street vendors and force them back into the rented market pitches.

Great journalism from KT once again
So is not accurate or is inaccurateSvay Rieng provincial governor says video of workers rushing out is not inaccurate
READ HERE:

There is nothing abnormal about the workers rushing out as their shift had attended, they had submitted for the tests and there was no reason for them to be at the factory and this is a normal occurrence, not unusual,” the governor said.

Provinces outside Phnom Penh had more than 2,000 new Covid-19 cases in the week to Thursday, the most on record, as coronavirus numbers continue a gradual resurgence.
Though some provinces — notably Kandal — still are not releasing daily case counts, subtracting Phnom Penh’s total from the national figure shows the outbreak is no longer centered primarily in the capital.
Though areas outside Phnom Penh saw some spikes in April, the weekly total is now higher than it has ever been outside Phnom Penh.
