Four New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, April 03, 2020 --

Cambodia confirmed four new cases of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), and one recovered case, pointed out the Ministry of Health in a press release issued this morning.

The four new cases were found on three French tourists in Preah Sihanouk province and a Malaysian man in Kampong Cham province.

The recovered case is a four-month-old baby of a French national who was also tested positive for COVID-19 and has just been cured recently.

Apparently the complications come in 2 waves, first is the immediate respiratory complications from the virus itself. And about day 12-14 comes the massive immune response causing more respiratory complications.
Any more info about, or links related to the immune response thing? I haven't heard of that before. I'm curious to know more about what happens there.
Do you think the parents of baby boomers whined so much when the boomers started changing society? And yet the whiney ones like to call young people "snowflakes." Hmm...

Hey guys,
Could we keep this thread for news and information on coronavirus IN CAMBODIA please ? The intention is to have one thread that is easy to access for those of us who are still in Cambodia and want to keep up with what is happening here on the ground.

There are some great discussions going on, but there are many many many other coronavirus threads available on CEO to post about non-Cambodian issues related to the pandemic.
Thank you all kindly, CEO News

Unpublished daily data. Can’t say much more about it at this time. Not for public consumption. Will make it into the journals eventually. Everything keeps changing everyday, so yesterday’s assumptions get thrown out and new predictions need to be made.

Just like hydroxycholoroquine and the accidental discovery.

The host immune response in respiratory virus infection: balancing virus clearance and immunopathology
Amy H. Newton,1,2 Amber Cardani,1,3 and Thomas J. Bracialecorresponding author1,2,3 Semin Immunopathol. 2016; 38(4): 471–482.

The respiratory tract is constantly exposed to the external environment, and therefore, must be equipped to respond to and eliminate pathogens. Viral clearance and resolution of infection requires a complex, multi-faceted response initiated by resident respiratory tract cells and innate immune cells and ultimately resolved by adaptive immune cells. Although an effective immune response to eliminate viral pathogens is essential, a prolonged or exaggerated response can damage the respiratory tract. Immune-mediated pulmonary damage is manifested clinically in a variety of ways depending on location and extent of injury. Thus, the antiviral immune response represents a balancing act between the elimination of virus and immune-mediated pulmonary injury.

This morning at 08:10 there was a flight from Phnom Penh direct to Zürich in Switzerland. I suppose it's another coronavirus evacuation flight, but I've heard nothing of a flight with destination Zürich. It's operated by Edelweiss Air, although that's not clear from the Departures table of Phnom Penh Airport.

Image

Interestingly on the Zurich Airport website it's not mentioned where the flight is coming from.

Image

Anyone know more about this 'mystery flight'?
EDIT: found the answer on the forum here: topic37187-10.html#p410103
"Yesterday evening the UK Embassy posted there were some seats left on a special flight this morning to Zurich"

Yeah well, take anything Human Rights Watch says about HE with a big granular grain of Kampot salt.
They don't get on.
HE memorably once called the Nobel Prize nominated head of HRW Asia "a sub-human dog who just wants to have sex with animals"
I don't necessarily agree, but he certainly has a good turn of phrase at times.

Disclaimer: No doc or medical advice here. Just sharing what I am reading.

Dr. Seheult, in his Cronavirus update 46, suggests that the virus may be able to suppress or delay the initial immune response. He goes into quite some detail.

He goes through quite a few papers and draws comparisons to SARS and MERS.

Following @CEOCambodiaNews request, I will try to post stuff not related to Cambodia in other threads, most likely the mega thread, but I still wanted to add my few cents.
