I see wet markets are reopening in China which I'm conflicted about. I understand people need to eat, but I would have liked to see the Chinese government at least try to implement some controls rather than allowing things return to how they have always been - as if nothing has happened.
The idea that seeing the world is going from place to place to look at obvious things is an illusion natural to dull minds.

Wet markets are an integral part of asian culture like beer in bavaria or monarchy in thailand etc. Will be difficult to impossible to change that. With a country like china I wouldn't be surprised if they can at least implement some changes for better hygiene.
Don't see that in Cambodia.

It’s really all about the exotic animals sold there. I read somewhere that China has already taken steps toward eliminating that part of it.

Looking at the website of Phnom Penh Airport, it seems almost all flights to/from China have been suspended. Probably a Chinese measure as there were 2 cases of COVID-19 infections on flights from Cambodia recently.

A paper examining the use of melatonin in support of treatment for COVID-19.
Melatonin, a well-known anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative molecule, is protective against ALI/ARDS caused by viral and other pathogens. Melatonin is effective in critical care patients by reducing vessel permeability, anxiety, sedation use, and improving sleeping quality, which might also be beneficial for better clinical outcomes for COVID-19 patients. Notably, melatonin has a high safety profile. There is significant data showing that melatonin limits virus-related diseases and would also likely be beneficial in COVID-19 patients. Additional experiments and clinical studies are required to confirm this speculation.

Too logical?

My guess is it’s because of the closure of all casinos since yesterday. The Chinese don’t come to Cambodia for the lovely food, or the great healthcare, or the beautiful seaside, de they?

Vietnamese national who re-entered Vietnam with COVID-19 from Cambodia, flees quarantine centre

HANOI — Vietnam media has reported that the country’s Tay Ninh Province’s health department is searching for a man who fled a coronavirus quarantine centre without being tested for SARS-CoV-2 on Sunday.

In an urgent notice, the department informed that Nguyen Thanh Nam, a 28-year-old resident in Bong Mạc Village, Lien Mạc Commune in Hanoi’s s Me Linh District, escaped from Thanh Long Secondary School, the quarantine centre in Thanh long Commune in Chau Thanh District at 4pm on Sunday.

Nam reportedly entered Viet Nam from Cambodia through Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh Province at 8pm on March 20.

He was then brought to a quarantine centre in Thanh Long Commune, Chau Thanh District.

The department has urged the People’s Committees of districts, towns and cities of Tay Ninh Province to inspect hotels and motels to help find the man.

Na is believed to have entered Cambodia while being infected with the virus and was in Phnom Penh before leaving for the Moc Bai border and re-entering Vietnam. VNS

There's still a fair number of Chinese construction workers trapped here.
