Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I've heard the same 500+ cases today from various sources.

Yet another circular has recently started going around telling foreigners to go to the Ministry of Labour with their passports, visa and work permits to register for the vaccination. I assume it's in light of the fiasco where they told us to register through our embassies but forgot to inform the embassies.

Someone from my work strongly advised me this morning to go and register and not wait for the company to organise it, as they have already missed one deadline by submitting the list of employees to the wrong official.

I decided to go the MOL this morning with my Khmer partner but just before we left, he decided to ring 115 just to check that everything was as we assumed it to be, but we were told not to go to the MOL on our own under any circumstances. We would be turned away. Apparently all foreigner registrations for the vaccine must be done through our employers.

Yet again, told one thing by one reliable person, read something completely different on an official circular, then told something else entirely by an official on the phone.

As I have mentioned several time on here before, I strongly believe that there is very little interest or will to vaccinate foreigners. The ones who have already received it have just had a bit of luck on their side. The rest of us will just be given the run-around for many months to come.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

I got vaccinated almost two weeks ago. It's not that there's no will, is that they're quite disorganized. The various Ministries barely know what the others are doing, so they all think there are prior requirements. The process itself (vaccination) was quite smooth. It's that the rollout/name database that is disorganized. I still think it's silly to vaccinate randomly vs by age, but what do I know... I would try to get it through your workplace if they said they were working on it. Doing it on your own is akin to throwing a penny and hoping it lands on its side. Possible, but not very likely.

Just curious. do they give ya an appt for ur second shot?
or will it be a fuck up to get that, if they change policy?
PLUS
what if u dont get ur 2nd shot, ( missed the date, no vaccines, etc etc) with in a certain time period?
does it void the 1st shot
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

You get a date for the 2nd shot. I'm assuming they know how to count and won't overdo the first rounds and "run out"... Then again, that's what they're doing as an official policy where I'm from. My folks are waiting something like 6 weeks before getting their second shot, despite the manufacturer recommending 2-3 weeks I think. So who knows... But yeah, you're given an appointment and two special cards.

it seems clear to me it's exactly what they want
the pandemic is having a devastating effect on the west
and china is profiting
i get the point.
But if the West starts blaming China for us being totally incompetent in controlling the virus like China has
- we are fucked. Full stop.

With due respect Andy and PP (you know i luv ya's both).
Pointing the finger of blame like this is exactly like hopeless alcoholics or junkies pointing the blame at someone else and not taking the necessary personal responsibility themselves.

It's like all this blatantly propaganda shit about war that some people are spewing out.
Blame China for our losing the big contest. Promote war - instead of actually rebuilding our own commerce and involvement and influence in Asia.
As if an empty hollow military victory would reinstate our place in the region. Schoolboy stuff.

WE gotta get our shit together!! - not point the finger and winge.
Also with respect SternAAlbifrons, it is a public article that I posted, because it was an interesting read of the Covid19 and the vaccine situation, needless to say it was about the Chinese leadership and that of their discrediting, the approved (tested by the correct guidelines) vaccines.
It seems very typical of the Chinese way of conduct, such has business, they themselves not putting any safety data forward with their own produced vaccines, needless to say a unapproved drug, but are still freely selling their product, seemingly without any objections by the WHO. It seems for all the producers of the approved vaccines it was a waste of time following the rules of approval.

It does seem that the might of China will do what ever it wants to do. Will this type of goings on prolong the pandemic? I don't know the answer.
But talk of school boy antic's, and such has war, I think China will decide that outcome if anybody.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

The two things aren't mutually exclusive. Yes, Western Democracies need to improve how our societies are functioning. And yes, China needs to be held to account.

What they did was no different than declaring war. For more than two weeks in early 2020 they made a conscious choice to allow the virus to "get out". They knew person to person transmission was taking place. They continually lied about that. They slammed any attempt to restrict travel (and got the WHO to do the same for them). And what happened? oh, it got out of China. You don't need to take my word for it - the Washington Post did a fairly extensive investigation using Chinese documents. If the Washington Post is willing to call out China for their actions - our governments should be able to do the same.

Anyone that has any belief that China is interested at all in anything other than China is delusional. If they view it in their interest to ensure a virus spreads beyond their border - they will do so (and they did). If they view it as in their interest to try to lengthen the pandemic in Europe, North and South America - they will (and they are).

China is the enemy of anyone who values freedom. They have declared war on us - the only question is do we have the backbone to call it what it is and respond in kind.
