phuketrichard wrote: Fri Jan 22, 2021 8:56 pm you think Burma is lying about the number of tests?

Yup, Many of the latest cases are via Burmese migrant workers ( 8, 676 total cases just since dec 15th)
Well, going by your figures (which I haven't checked), Burma have tested twice as many people as Thailand, but have ten times as many positive cases. And a lot of the Thai cases come from Burmese migrant workers.
So, yes, I agree with you that there must be a reason for this difference. And it's a big difference.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

I was thinking about this last night,
my gf mother and grandmother both died, (not this year) at home
both had no autopsy, both deaths listed ( translated to ) Heart stopped
Both had been admitted to the hospital where they were told nothing could be done, so both sent home

whose to say some that have died this year at home, didn't die of covid or complications cause of covid??
In the western world anyone who dies of covid had a Positive test within 28 days of death
Are they testing in small areas, ( say Pailin, Battamabang, Koh Kong) or ONLY tests at Border, airport, SR and PP?
Could someone have died from covid but not tested, no autopsy?

Does Cambodia have ventilators? is Anyone on one?

For a reporter this would make a great investigative story, BUT doubt they would ever get printed if it didn't follow the government lines of no deaths
I was wondering how many of Cambodia's cases have developed into full blown ICU cases, perhaps even ventilators. But there is precious little information about such matters. All you hear is "...tested positive and have been admitted to..."

No self isolation like in the west and admission to a hospital when you are at deaths door. In Cambodia they get admitted to hospital whether they have symptoms or not. And if they get a bit sick I suspect they will have them on oxygen pretty sharpish. For the vast majority of mild cases, that's all you will need and will prevent you from deteriorating dangerously.

In the west you have to sit at home and getting sicker and sicker, with breathing ever more difficult and putting strain on your heart and other organs, and then, if you can convince an ambulance crew that you need to be admitted, you then get proper medical care. But not before. And the fuller the hospitals get, the harder it is to get admitted. I think that is one of the main reasons of the high death numbers in many parts of the world; by the time you get into a hospital, the damage has already been done.
In many cases I would think so, and agree with you Doc67 that the damage has been done. Firstly, that is what the virus does, once it has gained access too a persons lungs. It also seems that if the hospital will give oxygen or put a person who is infected by covid19 all will be good. But are you and others sure about this method? Why do I question this theory or action, it would be reasonable to say that either would hopefully keep the patients more stable while a course of treatment would hopefully be administrated to combat the virus, but what of the viruses actions now, it's busy working on destroying its hosts breathing system.
It may also be the case of the one hand of the treatment may have a 50/50 split for the benefits of both the patient and the covid19 virus, the anti virus treatment will only be the cure and survival of the patients situation. Airborne viruses are not seen by the naked eye, so there is a great need for testing, also there will be a very large number of those tested positive that will show no symptoms at the time of being ill from the virus, but they carry the virus, so are a potential threat to another persons wellbeing.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Cambodia News, (Banteay Meanchey Province): Currently, the Banteay Meanchey provincial authorities are looking for a worker who has just returned from Thailand and who fled from the Mongkol Borey High School quarantine center on the evening of January 22, 2021. The 23-year-old man has tested negative in his first Covid-19 test after one day of confinement, but police are looking for him to put him back into quarantine conditions.

The motive for the break-out was apparently the man's fear of being caught in the camp by his creditors, because he has no money to repay his debts after his return from Thailand. The man is now on the run from his creditors and the long arm of the law.

A police spokesperson said: "So far, the authorities are looking for a man but have not found him. The police have arrived at his house, but have not found anyone and now the authorities are looking for him at the homes of relatives."
How did the police know about his backstory before they’ve even caught/questioned him? Or did the security guard who he bribed to let him escape tell the police Image

COVID-19: Tally Rises to 460 with Two New Cases
AKP Phnom Penh, January 26, 2021 --

The total confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Cambodia increased to 460 with the detection of two new cases, reported this morning the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry’s press release, the two positive cases are a 24-year-old Indonesian man coming from Indonesia via Singapore, and a 23-year-old Cambodian female migrant worker from Thailand. They arrived in Cambodia on Jan. 12 and were tested positive for the deadly virus on their second and third test, respectively.

They have been now admitted to the National Centre for Combatting Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control in Phnom Penh and Banteay Meanchey Provincial Referral Hospital.

Good news for us Americans it looks like 20 million people have been vaccinated and another 25 million have some immunity because they have already caught the virus, starting to make a dent in this nonsense.

Jan 26th
Vaccinations in the U.S. began Dec. 14 with health-care workers, and so far 23.5 million shots have been given, according to a state-by-state tally by Bloomberg and data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the last week, an average of 1.25 million doses per day were administered.

Biden wanted 1 million /day for 100 days> bet he gets it

Roughly 75% of people may need to be inoculated with the two-dose vaccine for a return to normal, according to estimates by top U.S. infectious disease doctor Anthony Fauci. Data from Bloomberg’s Covid-19 Vaccine Tracker

This on the other hand is fucking sick an twisted... These rich fuckers should step up
The combined wealth of 10 men increased during the coronavirus pandemic by $540bn (£400bn), Oxfam has found.

This amount would be enough to prevent everyone in the world from falling into poverty because of the virus and pay for a vaccine for all, the NGO said.

Its report found the total wealth of billionaires was equivalent to the entire spending by all G20 governments on recovering from the virus.

Lots of lessons have been learned by the West in treating the virus.

Those that have symptoms, but not bad enough to require admission, get plasma.

Those that get admitted don’t get high flow oxygen with a bee line to getting a ventilator. The nature of the disease means that the lungs are unevenly affected. In the early part of the virus, lots of patients went on ventilator and died.

Patients can live with low oxygen levels, as long as they are asymptomatic.

First line treatment is proning. Having the patient lie flat redistributes the V/Q mismatch and allows more even lung ventilation.

Also steroids to reduce the inflammatory process.

ECMO (aka lung bypass) helps in seriously low oxygen cases.

Lots of experimental treatments as well still going on.

None of which are available in Cambodia.

Sorry to derail this most interesting thread.
