Iconic White Building Soon to Disappear
Phnom Penh:
Poline, one of the most iconic buildings in Phnom Penh soon will vanish leaving its name in the history of old constructions. The building was built sin 1962 and still standing tall to these days for 60 years. Located on Preah Sothearos Blvd. Sangkat Tonle Basak, Khan Chamkar Mon.
Since its conflicts between the residents lived there and the government, Poline was agreed to be brought down for a new modern complex building. There were 493 families had lived in that building complex until the investment from Japan, Arakawa would cost $14 00 per square metre. The building will be remembered in the history of Cambodia's architectures.

Re: Iconic White Building Soon to Disappear
isn't that the block of flats called the bodeng which i think means building in khmer.
the bodeng used to be a hive of activity with people living on top of one another and businesses likewise.
that new brick triangular building opposite, which reminds me of times square in new york, used to be a patch of grass.

It was, it's completely flattened now. I think the name "bodeng" was just a local bastardization of the English "building".jobsworth6912 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 8:21 pm isn't that the block of flats called the bodeng which i think means building in khmer.

While we're talking about that area . . .
I was coming past the Oz embassy yesterday and thinking 'remember when the embassy first opened here, it seemed quite remote and isolated'. I'm sure they didn't foresee the towering buildings that are their neighbors now.

Yea, talk about tight security getting into the embassy, when one could almost drop in to the place,,,, from the top of that tower building. Much unlike the USA embassy.Username Taken wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 9:47 pm While we're talking about that area . . .

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
