Human trafficking, Cambodia to China gang busted in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh: On April 28, 3 Chinese man and a Cambodian woman were taken to court for human trafficking to China.

The police said that, on April 24, Agape International Missions organization called AIM SWAT, reported that there was human trafficking to China. The police found that there were 7 people (3 Cambodian women and 4 Chinese men), who were preparing documents and discussing about going to China at Bona Cafe.
AIM SWAT overheard their conversation and suspected that the suspects were human trafficking, so they contacted the police to help to release the victims. After that, the department of human trafficking went to inspect Mokod Meas Guesthouse, near Shopping mall in Steung Meanchey area, where they arrested 6 people.

Following the police raid, the suspects confessed that a Chinese couple,Ji Jiaxin and his wife, Tem Ouen, a mamason, had taken previously taken 3 women to marry with Chinese men in China. The women have since disappeared, and their families are unable to contact them.

Recently, the same couple found another two Cambodian women to marry with Chinese men, and they promised that a wedding gift of $US 4,000 would be paid to the women's family. Then the suspects took the 2 Chinese men, ZHANG LIANG, 27 years old and YAN FAN, 28 years old, to be engaged with the 2 victims and prepared the documentation to go to China. The suspects and the victims were staying at Mkod Meas guest house when they were arrested by Cambodia anti-trafficking police.

The suspect couple and the 2 Chinese men were taken to court to follow the legal procedure. The NGO AIM SWAT have said they will look after the victims and provide them with a job with a reasonable salary.

- Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Saturday charged three Chinese nationals and a Cambodian woman over the attempted trafficking of two Cambodian women to China for forced marriages.

Major San Vichetr, deputy chief of the municipal anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection department, identified the accused as Ji Xianxin, 37, a Chinese national and his Cambodian wife Taem Oeun, 35. Zhang Liang, 27 and Yan Fan, 28, both are Chinese nationals.

Maj Vichetr said the group was charged by the municipal court with unlawful removal for cross-border transfer, adding that each accused faces seven to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Court Arrests Three Chinese and One Khmer, Fake Marriage

Phnom Penh (FN), May 2 – Phnom Penh Municipal Investigating Judge Koy Soa, on Wednesday, issued an order to temporarily detain three Chinese men and one Cambodian woman at Prey Sar prison, allegedly charged of bringing Cambodian women to China for marriage, under the article 10, “illegal exporting with purpose”, of Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation.

The four defendants included a Chinese husband Ji Jiaxin, a Cambodian wife Taem Oeun, Zhang Liang, 27 and Yan Fan, 28.

Phnom Penh authorities and the International Organization called AIM SWAT collaboratively arrested the four on April 24, 2018 at the Golden Crown Guest House in Sangkat Steung Meanchey, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh, as they were discussing and preparing documents to China.
