Ex-Hubby Planned to Set the Family Alight
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 7th August 2023, a man attempted to pour gasoline on his ex-wife, parents-in-law, and two daughters with the intention to burn them all to death, but fortunately the Russey Keo military police intervened in time to prevent a disaster and arrested the ex-husband.
The suspect is identified as Ny Phally, a 40-year-old man who was previously married to a woman named Y.A.03. The reason for their separation was due to the husband's drug addiction and consistent domestic violence towards his wife and children. He had been imprisoned previously and even gone through drug rehabilitation, but there was no change in his behavior. Consequently, his ex-wife decided to file for divorce at Sangkat Chrang Chamres on 23rd April 2023.
Following the divorce, the husband constantly repeatedly called his ex-wife asking for reconciliation, which she consistently refused. Then on the morning of 7th August 2023, the husband called again requesting a reconciliation, but the ex-wife declined once more. In response, the husband threatened that both of them would die if they did not reconcile, and subsequently hung up the phone.
Approximately half an hour later, the husband arrived at the house of his ex-wife's family and entered with three bottles of petrol. When the father saw the husband holding a bottle of petrol, he shouted for help. Subsequently, a struggle ensued as the father attempted to grab the bottle, but the ex-son-in-law proceeded to pour gasoline on the ex-mother-in-law, and also threw gasoline at his daughters, with the intent to burn them all together.
Fortunately, neighbors rushed to intervene, apprehended the suspect, and called the Russey Keo district military police for assistance. While arresting Ny Phally, it was discovered that he had drugs in his possession.Currently, he is being held and processed by the Phnom Penh Military Police, and will be sent to court for legal action.
