Hanging was Not Suicide Say Family; Where is his Motorbike and his Wallet ?
Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: The family of a man, whose body was found hanging at his workplace, have said that they are not satisfied with the verdict of suicide given by police.
The 35-year-old victim, Huo Phillie, was working as a translator at the SUNWA company in Phnom Penh when his body was found hanging in his office at 6:30 am on May 17, 2019. He had a wife and children living in Takeo.
According to the family, there were splatters of blood on the walls, and also injuries to the body of the deceased which were not consistent with the man taking his own life. However, police said that the victim hurt himself when he failed on his first suicide attempt, cutting himself on the metal ladder and splattering blood everywhere and also bruising himself, before he remounted the ladder for a second fatal attempt to hang himself.
There is also the question of what became of the victim's personal possessions which disappeared after his death. The family say that his motorbike, two mobile phones, his wallet containing a sum of money, and other personal possessions, have all vanished. They are reclaiming a postmortem examination of the body and an investigation into the circumstances of the victim's death, suspecting it may have been a murder and robbery, disguised as a suicide.

More likely a suicide followed by robbing the dead.

I think this is important. Never heard reports of locals disputing the cops cause of death before. (Maybe the long timers can enlighten me.).
Maybe this is the spark that brings western forensics - coroner autopsies, crime scene investigation units, toxicology screens, etc., to the kingdom.
Or maybe not.

I dont know what happened in this case, but there are definitely murders made to look like suicides, drug overdoses, accidents, drowning, or death from natural causes. They often get away with it because the authorities want to present a good image of Cambodia, and dont even investigate possible murders.
## I thought I knew all the answers, but they changed all the questions. ##

On prior cases, I have seen the cops make off with anything that wasn't nailed down. Some sangkats are more notorious than others in this regard. In other cases, those that discover the body make off with everything before the cops arrive. It is impossible to know without proper forensics by an outside party.
