Local police officials confirmed that the murder took place between the brothers-in-law, and the perpetrator had confessed to police.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 10:30 am this morning,on October 26, 2019, a man shot his brother in law to death in Sangkat Teuk Laok 3, Khan Toul Kok, Phnom Penh.

The victim's sister said the suspect was her brother's brother-in-law. The two men had an argument, and the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim 4 to 5 times until he was dead.

The suspect has been arrested and sent to the police station for questioning. The police are conducting a post mortem examination of the body.

Man confesses to shooting brother in law
A man has been arrested today morning for fatally shooting his brother in-law during an argument at his house in Toek Lark 3 commune, Phnom Penh’s Toul Kork district.

Police identified the perpetrator as Meas Nara, works as a private security guard and the victim Chuon Ratana, 46y, serves a high school teacher.

In the police report, the incident took place at Mr Nara’s house in Phum 11, Toek Lark 3 commune, Toul Kork district, at around 11am.

Police said in the report that Mr Nara appeared at the police station and confessed to the murder.

According to a video clip, Mr Nara said that on Saturday morning, he invited his brother over for a drink, hoping to settle their argument, but Mr Ratana did not listen and used words that humiliated him.

“I shot him [Ratana] 4 times but only 3 bullets hit him. The argument has lasted for 10 years. Whatever I did was wrong to him. I invited him for a beer and hoped that he would forgive me but he did not,” Mr Nara said.
