My God, the U.S. ambassador just grew another pair

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

My God, the U.S. ambassador just grew another pair

Now Ambassador Todd has just defended internet freedom. I wonder how much a business visa in Cambodia will cost or if you will be able to get one if you are American? Anyhow, congrats Mr.Ambassador, it's about time you stopped pouring foreign perfume on Cambodian bullshit.

http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/u ... t-freedoms. now how about cutting off aid money or are you afraid the govt. will play the China card?

Well, that's a laugh for a start; the idea that the US is fighting for freedom on the internet. The US don't have any sort of moral superiority on this.

Here they are trying to control world copyright:

The TPP negotiations are secret, so nobody can say for sure how you will lose or gain from the agreement, but a leaked document reveals that the U.S. wants copyright standards that would force change to many of the negotiating countries’ copyright laws.
And of course Kim Dotcom is still fighting extradition to the US from NZ, also on copyright laws:

Not to mention Pirate bay of course...

Cheers Ambassador.

You're right of course AM, and the macro picture needs to be presented. However, I am interested solely in the macrocosm of Cambodia. Thanks for that.

You don't understand, when they/ the NSA do it, it's the war on terror.

When others do it, it's undemocratic, and if they have oil/wealth, that justifies invading them, raping their resources and fucking their country over for eternity.

Is there ANYTHING they do have moral superiority on? Nada.

The US is fighting for freedom. The freedom for corporates to own you, anything you create, and anything else that might be of interest in perpetuity. Many big companies in the US now assert their rights to anything you create in your spare time in the employment contract...

The US, UK, etc. have long given up moral authority to tell the world what to do. Torture and rendition being the lowlights of this rapid decline.

Don't get me wrong, AFAIK, he is one of the best ambassador to Cambodia comparing with other ambassadors from other countries. He is so active and brave to confront with that corrupted government. I personally really like him. I always read his column and met him a few times. Outside he is so humble and really educated.
