Don’t think peasants are allowed in THAT prison. Only the up and up. With the only stipulation that they can’t leave.

I think the victim’s family as asked for $200,000. Price of 1 villa, maybe?

The question is..

Does she and her family lose face, or just brush it off like it’s nothing?

As I previously noted, historically that hasn't been a firm stipulation.

Without a criminal conviction and year or two of whatever pamperd weekend detention stage show, her and the rest of the privileged kids will only learn one lesson, daddies going to be pissed for a while coz you cost him a wodge of cash and you might lose your new phone aswell, am glad to see the money for the family but their lawyer didn't seem to negotiate very well, quite a drop.

Phnom Penh: In the evening of April 3, 2019, the victim's family have accepted $70,000 compensation from the family of the young woman, Yin Ki-chik, who was driving the car that crashed into victim and killed her.
Image
This agreement was conducted without any coercion in the office of the Voluntary Lawyers, Samdech Techo Senmon, Minster of the Council of Ministers, and in the presence of lawyers on both sides.

Victims' tribunal said the acceptance of $ 70,000 was only a civil remedy, while criminal cases would still be subject to legal action.

Laywer might have gotten a fairly amount outside to convince the family to lower their claim ... :stir:

It's about 17 times the going rate, so not too bad.

Obviously, nothing is worth their daughters life.

Generally speaking. But it's not that punitive to this rich family. They probably couldn't reach for a pen fast enough, to write that check.

$70 grand is probably only what it would cost to reupholster the Rolls their fat assed daughter was sitting on the hood of.

I would have been happier if they had gotten stuck with the entire $200,000

Couldn't agree more...a pittance really for a family like that I would have thought.
