A girl jumped off the bridge which goes to Koh Pan, on the morning of Sun Aug 9. I haven't seen any official news yet, but people have said (not officially confirmed), she is 22 years old, and she did it because her boyfriend married another girl. She left her motor bike and shoes on the bridge and jumped. She did not die when she hit the water, but tried to swim (the bridge is not very high). After a while she drowned. She was taken from the water by people in a boat several hundred meters downstream.

Interestingly, police would not allow anyone to photograph a dead person. Maybe the photographs you do see of dead people were taken before the police arrived, or maybe not all police would do the same.

She will probably make news headlines. See what happens.

A man about 70 years old committed suicide by hanging himself, a couple of weeks ago. He did not make the news, as far as I know. The young girl should get a lot more media coverage than the old man. The man had ongoing health problems, and had spend all his money going to doctors. When he had no money left, he hanged himself.

Cambodia News, Kampong Cham Province: On the morning of August 9, 2020 in Koh Mit commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham province, the body of a a 30-year-old woman was found floating in the river after she allegedly jumped from Koh Pen bridge.

Mang Meng Hourn, the father of the deceased, said that his daughter, Huon Nimol, 30, who was living in Kampong Roling village, Kampong Cham city, had a mental illness and needed to take medication every day. He said that there was nothing in particular to indicate that she would suddenly decide to end her life that day.

An autopsy did not indicate any signs that the death was a criminal act, and it is being treated as a suicide. The woman's body was handed over to the family for a traditional funeral ceremony. RIP.
