Re: A Germanwings Airbus A320 plane crushed
I sometimes wonder about the engineers that design aircraft systems. I could never find a logical reason why the transponder can be so easily switched off and now I learn that the cockpit door lock has a digital keypad so in case of incapacitation the crew can open, however this too can be manually overridden from the cockpit.

I guess there are pluses and negatives to any security aspect, but I'm a fan of the cockpit being 100% locked from the inside.
I also like it being mandatory that there is always 2 people in there. This crazy fuck obviously waited until he was alone and with nobody there to stop him before he killed everyone.

its about time, to arrest this psychiatrist rubbish.
the break during his training wa s apparently due to "burn-out", in 2008.
he must have been 21 then.
a german aviation expert said, a pilot-suicide-mission could be interrupted.
and - yeah shudder, that would be this boardcomputer from hell to get into action...
but guess what happened

The Egypt Air flight 990 co-pilot brought down his plane on purpose back in 1999, too. Scary shit. Fuck labeling it a "suicide", it it horrific mass-homicide on an industrial scale.

That is so a terrorist can't force a flight attendant to use the keypad code to get into the cockpit, which is what happened in the 9/11 hijackings. They cut one flight attendant's throat to show they were serious, then made the head flight attendant use her code open the cockpit door with a knife pressed against her throat. Without that manual override feature, the pilots couldn't stay safe inside and land the plane.Secret Squirrel wrote:I sometimes wonder about the engineers that design aircraft systems. Re: A Germanwings Airbus A320 plane crushed
bombshell story, eh?
he suffered severe recurrent depression, obviously.
numbers of sick notes found, never informed the employer about.
he was as good as out of the job. he wouldnt have lasted even 2 years (sept 2013 - ?) - without crash.
another pinnacle of modern psychiatry.

Sure, depression should not be equated with mass murder...but...

It certainly seems strange that Lubitz could hide his present (not previous) medical state from his employers. Surely there is a need for disclosure when other people's lives depend on his health - if Lubitz, as a pilot, was at risk of a heart attack, or was going blind or deaf, would the doctor still guard confidentiality toward his patient ?

What is the doctor's role ?
The fight against mental health discrimination took a step forward last week with a call for the abolishment of head-clutching images to illustrate stories about depression, only to take two steps back this morning, with the coverage of Andreas Lubitz's mental stability.
...
A Lufthansa spokesperson yesterday confirmed that Lubitz "passed all the subsequent tests and checks with flying colours" and that "his flying abilities were flawless," but the charge seemed to be that anyone who has experienced depression is unfit for a career involving responsibility.

Re: A Germanwings Airbus A320 plane crushed
what did he want form the doctor in the first place ?
talk ???
pills, more likely.
not sure, why he didnt pay that treatment on his own, without health insurance.
not sure, if this is possible, e.g. he would show up in the computer etc etc...
this was much a risk, and quite likely would have meant the end of his career.
he must have had a strong reason, to see the doctor - what else than pills?
