I see, so by knowing he is unemployed, they know he cannot be police, army, or bodyguard. It is still a really strange way to phrase it though, because it makes it sound like there is a specific law that bans the unemployed from owning guns.

i think if he was a policeman or bodyguard, they would mentioned it in the news. Moreover if he was a policeman or solider before, he needed to return the gun back after he resigned or left the job for whatever reasons. In Cambodia, ordinary people is not allow to own a gun unless you secretly bought from someone. However, if you were caught you would be accused of illegally owning the gun just like his case.

Just stating the obvious here - but surely pills, or some sort of drugs would have been a more discreet means of suicide ? (Or even murder, come to think of it.)
As a doctor, he should have known what to take to slip away quietly. Very sad.

He was a big gun fan and had probably owned the gun since before the gun reduction program in the late 90s.
