German Backpacker TOBIAS RUNCK Gets Scammed €9,000 by Tuk-Tuk Driver & Overstays Cambodia Visa 6 Months

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

WTF? Goons and Western Union? That was an OR. There is no "embassy and Western Union". It's one or the other.

The objective is to figure out if they can accept money on your behalf. How would you ask for something like that? Try "do you have a bank account I can send money to and collect from here?"

Why is logic so hard?

I don't know what country you are from but if I went into the Canadian embassy and tried it they would try to keep straight faces while politely telling me to fuck off. I suspect Oz and the UK are not much different.

The sarcasm dial was in Image

But in any event I would of thought these tuk tuk drivers wouldn't be doing so well with their industry being disrupted by the cheaper Grab/Passapp indian tuks tuks. In general, I wouldn't have thought they could afford another moto in addition to their tuk tuk and even if they could, it mostly wouldn't be more than a scooter. But yeah, if it's an older phantom..

OTH as most of us know some of the less reputable tuk tuk drivers run sidelines to supplement their income...virtually anything you want...weed, ice, massage, young girl..they can find it for you for a commission.

it is not so important for a tuk-tuk guy if he's doing well or not.
IF they get a chance to "find" a couple of thou soooo easy, they'll
probably scam you. It's not important how long you know a guy or how "good" you
know him, this is an awful lot of bread for him.
And a big opportunity too! DO NOT FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT
RULE here: The family always comes first!
