Gas explosion at Sher-e-punjab today!

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Most Thai restaurants in Australia are run by Khmers. There is something about the Nepalese though, I am not a fan and I know several of them. There is a large community here, they were thrown out of Bhutan and live in camps near the border. This morning there were several Nepalese in the crowded doctors surgery. A young chap who looked like a lady boy was pissed out of his mind and staggering around annoying people. The Khmer wife thought that it was hilarious, no one else was laughing.
I called the Police Child Protection Unit yesterday because our family of Nepalese neglect their young child who wanders the complex alone night and day-3 years old. They have both been going to TAFE English classes for a very long time yet still don't speak a word. Disappointing.

He owns, or is the majority shareholder in, 5 different restaurants in Phnom Penh. Nice guy. He always sits and talks with my wife and I when we eat at his restaurants. Phnom Penh India on the riverside is our favorite, because it's on the riverside, and the manager is excellent.
He might be nice guy, but something went terribly wrong and being the owner he is responsible for what happened in the end.

And the aunt of the deceased calling for 'generous people' is a disgrace. When someone dies in an accident during work woulnd't it be fair if the owner took care of things instead of having aunty begging around?
It would be morally be the right thing for the owner to offer compensation, but he may be advised by this lawyers not to do so until the investigation has been completed. He could kick some bucks in anonymously though.

It's also possible the owner did pay towards the funeral.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

And the UK is obviously the reference point for top notch cuisine.

Just to play devil’s advocate, how many Nepalese native speakers do they employ at TAFE? Being immersed in Khmer 24/7 doesn’t help. It’s far easier for locals to learn English because they can just ask their friends or neighbors stuff they don’t understand. I’m also assuming they work 28 hrs a day, sleep for 4 hours, and spend an 1 hour on learning English. Very conducive to learning.

A few expats have spent decades in Cambodia and aren’t fluent in Khmer either.
