No gas, no drones: Strict safety rules for Water Festival

PHNOM PENH: Flying of drones has been prohibited and food and balloon sellers told not to use gas-filled cylinders among crowds during the water festival in the Cambodian capital later this week.
The three-day festival starts on Thursday.

City Hall spokesman Met Meas Pheakdey said: “We are not allowing the use of gas because the safety and security of people is a priority.”
Food sellers could find another way to prepare their food. “We explained this to them and hope they will understand,” he said.

Mr Meas Pheakdey confirmed that drone cameras were also banned...

I could understand it if they were banning these in public places:

But LPG cylinders are pretty safe, for example:
The newspaper headline read “Gas Bottle Explosion” but the accompanying picture (see below) showed the gas bottles still standing there, next to the gutted house. Ironically, the gas bottles (green arrows) were just about the only thing left intact. Even the intense heat of the adjacent fire didn't make them explode.

They are only deadly if a pot too big is used fanning the flames out and over the gas compartment thus heating it up.

That picture does not prove anything. There could have been another LPG bottle or that bottle could have a huge rip in it's side. It also could be bollocks and no newspaper article even said that.

Did you read the ELGAS reference I gave above?

How & Why Would an LPG (Propane) Cylinder Explode?

It is extremely difficult to get an LPG cylinder to explode. Even trying to do it intentionally is very challenging. Now, you may be thinking that I am only saying this because I work for an LPG company. How can what I say be true when you see reports of “exploding gas bottles” in the news with some frequency?
