First road sweeper truck arrived in Cambodia

To make the city cleaner, the city hall bought a road sweeper truck from China. The city hall is planning to buy couple more in order to clean the city. With this new and more road sweeper truck, the city hall has hoped that the city will be cleaner. The truck will be widely using during the nice time in order not to bother people and the traffic, the truck will not require more people.

Well, that's progress of one sort. A mechanical sweeper isn't going to pick up piles of trash in the streets, though, and they take a lot of costly maintenance and upkeep. Still, a step in the right direction.

Not the first road sweeper in the Kingdom. Saw a smaller one about 10 years ago. I guess it ran out of petrol.

I will confirm that, but I think I saw it about 6 years ago. The rotary brushes had worn out and they were waiting for the village peasants to make more.

Now if they can just teach the people to not throw trash everywhere. Its seems every little waterway in PP and SKV is filled with trash and the water is black. This includes the streams running into the city drinking water reservoir in SKV. A couple weeks ago I was in PP and one waterway down by the Russian Market was blocked up with trash and right by it was a garage truck (delivering?)

well done Cambodia!
Here in Pattaya the still use humans consisting of seven workers who get driven around in a grey pickup by a female supervisor who does sod all except stand and watch and issue orders to the staff regarding how to brush leaves away. Each one is costing 300 baht the day in minimum salary (I don't know what supervisor earns) but that's at least 2400 baht a day.
