Group of 7 Tourists from France Robbed in Phnom Penh; French Lady Receives Head Injury

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Dash cam? unusual in a Khmer car unless it was possibly police or reporters. If it was a barang I doubt he would hang around. We really need a fund to pay for a spy in the police. In Thailand a guy got a medal from local police chief for doing this. he did a proper job. broke the guys leg and they filmed him writhing on the ground

Driven around Phnom penh lately? Probably 50% of late model cars has one, 50% of 10 year old Lexus have them, including the cheapo rear cameras (some for reverse, but lots have dual channel cameras if you look closely) , and half the old banger camry / carollas have them.
They start around $30, and probably more valuable than insurance.

Surprised we aren't seeing more car crash videos from Cambodia, if dash cams are so prevalent? This is the second video I've seen from Phnom Penh of a dash cam driver chasing and running down jaos, though

That was nasty the way they just yanked her by her bag and how she got thrown across the road. The driver wiping them out was classic. I'm surprised anyone would try a robbery around there, there's Gendarmerie station right on that roundabout and going a bit west there's an even heavier security presence.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I don't know about PP but virtually all of my Khmer friends have dash cams in their cars.

Sad but true.

There’s quite a few in SHV but mainly on Chinese cars - which is ironic when you think about it.
They sell cheap ones at Caminco insurance in SHV.

I’ve got one but then I’ve been using them for about 10 years.
