French Expat MATTHEW CLAVIES Gets Robbed by GSM Bar Girl in Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh: On May 7 at 8:15 am, a 28 year old French expat, MATTIEW CLAVIES (and his girlfriend he lives with), was robbed by a bar girl at his house on street 234, Sangkat Veal Vong, Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh. The suspect who was arrested, 31 year old Sem Chanthy, works in the bar, although it's not clear which one.
Before the incident, the suspect left from her work place which was in Golden Sorya Mall area, then went to the victim's house. She rang the bell of the victim's house. Nobody was around, so she let herself in and grabbed a wallet from one of the bedrooms. The victims found her in their house and asked her, "who are you?", and noticed she had taken the wallet so they took her to the landlord, who called the police. The suspect was arrested and taken to Veal Vong police station and the police prepared the case. The victims told CEO that they had never seen this thieving woman before she showed up in their house.
UPDATE: Matthew's girlfriend, Marie Delassus, has reached out to CEO and send us this version of events:

Bar Girl in Phnom Penh
This guy is my boyfriend and I'd like to clarify the story, as you are
making it look very different from the truth.
Please find below the real story, which as you will see is not very
interesting...
We live in a traditional khmer house with the owners at the ground floor,
our apartment on the 1st floor.
Monday morning, a girl passed the gate of the house (they are always open
when the owners are around) and went directly upstairs, as if she knew us.
The door of our flat was open as it's a safe area and we were in the room
about to go for our breakfast.
She walked in the flat and went to the 1st bedroom open, our flat mate's
bedroom. She grabbed a wallet that was laying around and tried to go back
out. We walked on her at this moment and crossed her path in the kitchen.
As she obviously broke in the flat we took her to the owners to understand
the situation.
Our landlord is a lawyer and he called the police immediately. They arrived
after 5 minutes, we took a picture with the stolen item for the police
report and everything was finished after 20 min. We all went to work as
usual on a Monday morning.
I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve by letting random people
comment on a very wrong version of this non-event. Please understand that
this kind of article can be hurtful, and try to check your facts before
posting stuff on Facebook.
I hope you will understand and at least review your story. At best you can
just delete this whole thread on your website and Facebook, you will make
us all very happy.
Thank you for your understanding."

The John's story sounds made up but I'm curious: how much would a 31 y/o prostitute like her cost for all night?
To gladly teach and gladly learn.

Lol, that pretty much sums up most GSM lasses.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Tue May 08, 2018 10:43 am works in the bar, although it's not clear which one.
They all seem to waft hither and thither like an ill wind.

Always "hope" but never "expect".

At least your wallet by the sound of it, but it could include a phone and anything else that's not nailed down!AmericanSteve wrote: ↑Tue May 08, 2018 10:51 am The John's story sounds made up but I'm curious: how much would a 31 y/o prostitute like her cost for all night?

Ha ha, story is made up by the frog for sure. Funnily enough I'm 90% sure I saw this guy in Eric Kayser 240 last night buying cakes last night. Probably for his girlfriend to apologize to her for allowing this girl *who he definitely didnt know* to barge into his house...LOL.
How would she know where to find his wallet. this guy fucked up and thats his story....Ha ha ha.
I'd also say unless my wallet had thousands in it and some GSM meth head came to my apartment and stole it the last thing I'd do is call the police and have the obligatory photo alongside my clearly made up story.....most likely she was leaving his house at 8am

Actually I believe him , cause it happens to me quite often.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
