Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I lost my little brother, 23, in a motorcycle accident in Phnom Penh. I want to learn what NGO's are considering to help address the frequent fatal accidents.

NGO's are too busy catching paedophiles and following around old men like me, to bother about educating people about the dangers of riding a moto with no helmet.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Whilst I am no big fan of NGO's I do think this comment is a little unfair. You cannot blame NGO's, many of which do actually try and educate people, for lax laws, inadequate enforcement, a corrupt police force, and a society where the rich can flaunt said laws every day.

In collaboration with the FIA Foundation, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The UPS Foundation, Manulife, more recently USAID-DIV, and the Cambodian Government, AIP Foundation implements programmes that have increased helmet use rates at schools from 0% to 88%.

“With the new Road Traffic Law, we hope to see similar results nationwide,” said Mr. Craft.

Saul Billingsley, Director General of the FIA Foundation, said:

"The passage of this legislation is great news for all Cambodians, and particularly the children. It is also a great way to kick off the global #SaveKidsLives campaign, because it is a demonstration of what can be achieved with commitment and consistent focus and pressure. I am delighted that the FIA Foundation has been able to play our part in this success, and pay tribute to our partner in Cambodia, the AIP Foundation, as well as the Cambodian Government and the many advocates within the government and police. This has been a genuine partnership effort and many other organisations including GRSP, Handicap International, the Red Cross and WHO, and other donors including Bloomberg Philanthropies and UPS Foundation, have made a huge contribution. Now we look forward to continuing to support the awareness raising, implementation and enforcement of the law." https://www.fiafoundation.org/blog/2014 ... t-campaign
