Cambodia News (Banteay Meanchey): On the afternoon of 14 April 2023, four suspects, together with the exhibits, were sent by the Poipet Gendarmerie Office to the court for legal action, following their arrest at 6:10 p.m. on 13 April 2023 for aggravated intentional violence with the use of a firearm.

The act was committed on 5 April 2023, in Phsar Kandal village, Poipet city, by four male suspects aged 15,16,24 and 38 years old. Colonel Nuon Ninaro said that suspects were riding a black Honda Dream motorcycle (1Y-1198) when they saw the victim named Sun Sokhom and they followed him up the road. One of them fired shots at the victim, injuring him and causing the motorbike to fall down. The gang then escaped on their motorbike.

After taking the 4 suspects into custody, the military police confiscated a M1911AI US ARMY pistol, 17 9mm Luger bullets, and 32 other bullets, and took the suspects and the evidence to the Poipet City Military Police to handle the procedure.
Upon interrogation, the four suspects confessed that they had opened fire on the victim with their pistol, wounding him in the back. However, the motive for the shooting remains a mystery.
