Forest Carothers (American) Out Of Coma After Being Hospitalized by Nicholas O'Neill (Irish) in Shirtless Street Fight

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Phnom Penh: On the morning of June 16 local media reported on a street fight which left 45 year old American Forest Carothers in a coma and taken to Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh after being brutally beat up by Nicholas O'Neill from Ireland.

Forest has awoken from his coma but still in critical condition and might not be making a full recovery from his injuries, and Nicholas still sits in Prey Sar Prison.

Forest's brother, Ethan Carothers, has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his medical bills, already raising $4,800 of the $15,000 goal. On the GoFundMe account his brother mentions a friend named "David" who's been helping liaise between Forest Carothers' family back in the US and the hospital in Phnom Penh.

Jamie Lambo and myself ran into David at Angry Birds Bar a few nights ago, which is where many of us upstanding citizens can often be found. He tried to help fill in the blanks... David knew Forest, and was kind enough to let him borrow $20, of which he thought he'd never get back anyways. Forest would stop by his hotel, just to let him know he still didn't have the money to pay him back, and then went ahead and put a few drinks on his hotel tab for good measure. David also knew Forest's "girlfriend," which sounded like a bar girl, who he'd only known for a few days/weeks.

When Forest was knocked out by Nicholas O'Neill, his girlfriend went to David for help. David, being the nice guy that he is, has been doing all he can to help with the terrible situation. According to him, Forest Carothers and Nicholas O'Neill were friends, and were already out drinking together when the fight broke out. It's been said that the fight was over Forest borrowing $15,000 from Nicholas or that Forest tried to steal his ATM card, both of which David couldn't confirm, but seriously doubted that Forest borrowed $15K from Nicholas.

That's most of it. According to Forest Carothers' 2 Facebook pages, he's spent a lot of time in both Bali, Indonesia and Thailand, where he's been teaching English, and he's been in South East Asia partying since at least 2005 or 2007. Here is a video of Nicholas O'Neill looking very remorseful after the fight:

I will donate to the ''system'' that keeps O Neil in prison, until Carothers fully recovers and gets paid compensation for hospitalization and damages for this assault .
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I think the Irishman should pay all his expenses.

Yep. Even if we are to believe Nicholas's story about the $15,000, that is no excuse to brutally attack someone.

There's a resemblance, right?

Sure, but that doesn't look like a recent picture, unless he has suddenly gone back to the US (or somewhere else, I don't recognize that as a local bridge) and his face has completely healed already.
