You could have just said "Nigerians" in the title. Not that we didn't know.

Let me make sure I understand: the bags in question have been with authorities for 6 months and now the Nigerians have to unpack them in front of the judge to see if there are any illicit substances????

Probably they also have to consume that stuff in front of the judge in order to make sure that it is real.

I don't think one needs drugs to think something is trippy in a Khmer court.

What would happen if they just denied any knowledge?

Presume that these are the same 8 Nigerians that were arrested for drugs in Febuary 2015, and asked to unpack their drug bag before the court in August 2015 :

8 Nigerians jailed up to 8 years in Cambodia for drug trafficking
Published: 12/09/2016 12:14

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 12 (FN) — Cambodia's Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Monday convicted eight Nigerian nationals of drug trafficking and sentenced them to five to eight years in prison, said a verdict.

The eight men "were charged with illegally trafficking drug substances under the Article 40 of the Law on Drug Control," said the verdict, which was pronounced by Presiding Judge Khy Chhai.

The group will be deported to their birth country after they have served their prison sentence, it said.

Also, a Cambodian woman, who conspired with the group to commit the crime, was sentenced to eight years in jail, the verdict said.

The court also fined each of them between 10 and 14 million riel (2,500 and 3,500 U.S. dollars).

All eight Nigerians and a Cambodian woman were arrested in Phnom Penh in January last year with about 0.8 kg of crystal methamphetamine and scales.
