We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Several Foreigners Detained at Golden Lion's Circle in Sihanoukville for Traffic Violations

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Sihanoukville: On 01 March 2018 at 7 pm, Mr. Ket Sopheak, head of the traffic police office in Sihanoukville, and his team stopped many people who where not following the Cambodian traffic law at near the Golden Lion's Circle on Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville. Offenses included not wearing helmets, no headlights and they even gave some people a breathalyzer test to make sure they weren't stupid enough to be drinking and driving.

The police detained 15 vehicles (3 were drunk drivers) and 11 people(3 women which included a foreigner as well). There was a mix of locals and foreigners being stopped and detained for these infractions, and they have all be reeducated so that they clearly know the mistakes they make and have agreed to not make them again.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Technically an Asean licence is valid in all Asean countries. Also, you don't need a licence if it's under 125 cc. Both of these are laws. It won't necessarily prevent you from being stopped and having a debate.

You aren't allowed to drive a Thai car in Cambodia any further than 200km from the border. Might be 180km. Anyhow, it's not as far as Shv.

It's not unusual to see Thai plates cruising around Phnom Penh..
