German Expat Gerrard Matheson from Pocoloco Bar Brutally Murdered on Beach in Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I don't think he was homeless. Maybe he was camping.

Is it common for non-homeless expats in Sihanoukville to drive to Victory beach and sleep on a mat?

Wolfgang his/was his brother. I haven't seem him for years so think he went back to germany with his local family.
Thanks. I found some information online confirming his unfortunate death, but it appeared to be in German, and I couldn't translate it perfectly.

Condolences to all his friends and family.
I can translate it.

Fuk it. 2016 has been a cunt of a year.
I worked with Gary at All Nations. He had his problems but was a genuinely decent bloke. Generous to a fault and a very gentle guy.
RIP mate.

Thanks. It looks like it's a post on yet (another) Cambodia expat forum, in German.

Maybe he was night fishing.

"Gary was a dear friend....worked at the international guest house. I did a lot of night fishing and spearing around there. A lot of seedy fuckers crawling the beach from victory to independence at night. Rest in peace amigo....we sure had some times.

He was an avid reader. He used to go down there simply to read and relax. What a terrible price to pay for wanting to enjoy a bit of solitude.

Not much more there. He seems to have been popular by some of the comments. And his family, including Wolfgang, have been informed. There is a whip-around to cover funerla costs.
