A Foreigner Found Dead at Rented Room From Heart Attack

Phnom Penh: According to Cen Daily News, A foreigner found dead in a rented room located on street 357, Deoum Sleng village, Chabar Ampov II commune, Chabar Ampov district. The foreigner named Morten Einar Klomsten, male, 43 years old, Norwegian. He was staying at Velkommen guesthouse located in Phsar Kandal I commune, Daun Penh district, tourist.

The victim knew a Vietnamese girl named Sok Sreypov, 24 years old, living in the rented house where the foreigner was found dead. She has been living there for three years now. On 12 January 2016, the victim called to Sreypove and told her to come to see him. On 13 January 2016 she came to meet him at a foreign restaurant located in Phsar Kandal. Then around 8:00 pm both the foreigner and sreypove came to her rented room and the foreigner brought a bottle of alcohol with him (Johnnie Walker Black Label, 1L). When they arrived home, Sreypov went to buy a box of Angkor beer and then all of them including Sreypove’s friends and brother six people drank together. The foreigner only drank the alcohol and alone he finished half of it. Around 12:00 am the foreigner said he was so tired and he wanted to sleep earlier. Then, around 1:00 am on 14 January 2016, because the foreigner was snoring, so they moved him to sleep inside the room.

Then, in the morning, Sreypove went to see her kid with her brother and around 5:00 pm when she came back home she had seen the foreigner was making foam at his mouth. Later she reported it to police and when police come and checked body the foreigner was already dead. Recently the body is kept at Steng Meanchey pagoda waiting for family to come to take for funeral.

Sounds like a deliberate "slur" to implicate Vietnamese

Viets very often adopt a local name,so that they are not seen to be so,,,,,,,vietnamese?

Actually I think you'll find that there are a lot of Vietnamese of dubious immigration status with the family name 'Sok', often assigned by whoever gave them their local ID. So many in fact that I think it may be an inside joke or yellow star of sorts.

Geez mate, after just a month or so here, you seem to know the place pretty well.Actually, too fukn well for a short term tourist. Staying for long enough in the pig pen to know the difference between Velkommen and the old dump, bartending for nothing in Shitsville(fuk, if you can't beat them, join them!)then making a bloody fortune bartending in Siem Reap, then onto Koh Kong and now Kuala Lumpur.
