& Hertz is a rental company , so was the car rented ? Or rented and ripped off , or bought from hertz ?

Hertz had to sell nearly 200,000 cars last year at auctions due to their bankruptcy. I'd wager a bet that this was one of them and it found itself on a boat headed to Sihanoukville

Maybe it was some new style Hertz rent a racer. They used to do Ford Mustang Gt350s in the sixties. You could go rent one for the weekend, race it then return it on Monday.
