FOR THOSE WHO THINK THAT...

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

PSD kiwi, what is your source of information and why would a spokesman for the Ministry of Labor say otherwise? So, assuming the spokesman is right, who can get me on the trail to an immigration visa, not a retirement visa?

Which spokesman for the MoL stated that there was a retirement visa? I haven't read that anywhere.

there has never been a retirement visa/extension;

BUT u might have misunderstood as i said
another problem even if they do offer a retirement extension,( of which i am 99% sure they will an u can quote me on that when it does come out)

i am sure u will need some thousands of $$ in the bank and if ur at the end and cant scrape up the fine now ...

and it will be for those that do not work but have either an outside income ( pension as you have) or $$ in the bank,
IE
same as Thailand

Their just closing loops as their neighbor did

PSD kiwi WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR INFORMATION? Any fool can come on here with claims, but unless you are in an official position, I would like to know where that "fact" comes from. And why would a spokesman for the M. of Labor? I admit it could happen and it could be wrong, but I want to know the source.

[EDIT] Ahhh now I see where your confusion is coming from....IMMIGRATION VISA. An immigration visa is any visa issued by the department of immigration, whether that be T-Type, E-Type, B-Type, K-Type, etc...Understand now???

No, phuketrichard, it was not a misunderstanding from your post. Even more strangely PSD kiwi the info came from your post; you might want to take the time to read your own offering. Again, I never asked about a retirement visa, but an immigration visa based on your quote which I verified by a google search. It was "To clarify things, Labor Ministry spokesman Heng Sour told Khmer Times: “Retired foreigners can live in Cambodia without a work permit.”

If a foreign retiree isn’t employed in any capacity in the Kingdom, then only an immigration visa is needed to live in the country lawfully, Mr. Sour said.

“The work permit requirement is only for those foreigners who are employed in Cambodia,” he continued. “Therefore, those retired persons have no need to be concerned – as long as they are not employed.”Try to remember what you wrote. Understand now?

Gee PSD kiwi, I'm sorry that you couldn't understand "who can get me on the trail to an immigration visa, not a retirement visa?" But since you couldn't even remember your own post there is no reason why mine wouldn't give you trouble. "Geezer"? Gee, you're showing signs of senile psychosis not me. But next time I promise to be gentle with you; I'll grunt monosyllables.
