Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Advice for those approaching Phnom Penh on national road 4 from the direction of Sihanoukville ; there have been delays due to problems caused by recent flooding. Posted today:
Please be informed that those who travel on National Road No. 4 to Phnom Penh in case of traffic congestion at the intersection of the wide road after the previous flooding, you can detour along a dirt road north of National Road No. 4. The gate of Ang Khmao pagoda (west of Thnal Teng market) returns to Street 51, with local authorities stationed at the turn point to indicate additional directions. Then you can travel up to National Road 5 through Oudong or the concrete road through Basithik mountain in order to enter Phnom Penh more easily.

October 24, 2020
National Road 2 closed due to landslides and floods
Phnom Penh City Hall issued an urgent announcement yesterday closing National Road 2 in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district due to flooding and landslides.

“Water has been flowing over National Road 2 which has caused some parts of the road to erode. Therefore, to ensure the safety of the people travelling on the national road, the Phnom Penh City Hall would like to temporarily ban all types of traffic beginning from 8pm, October 23, until further notice,” said the announcement.

Met Meas Pheakdey, a spokesman for the Phnom Penh municipal administration, said National Road 2 is closed between Kour Srov roundabout and the border of Kandal Steung district, Kandal province. However, the road between the roundabout and the border of Ta Khmao city in Kandal province is still open for traffic.
