Flood alert and heavy rains for some provinces.

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

This week's weather warning:
Image
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Active low pressure in the South China Sea, linked to a low pressure system across Cambodia, will cause heavy rainfall from September 26 to 30. On the sea surface, there will be strong winds and high waves.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology on September 24 announced that a low pressure system has formed across the Kingdom of Cambodia, meanwhile in the South China Sea, an active low pressure will move into the area bordering Cambodia and Laos, then will continue from east to west along the Dangrek Mountains.

The active low pressure will cause moderate to heavy rainfall in the northeastern and northern highlands as well as the northwestern lowlands during September 26-28, the statement said.

In the coastal areas, from September 27 to 30, there may be moderate to heavy rain mixed with wind gusts. On the sea surface, strong winds and high waves are expected. The notice calls on the local authorities and residents living in the areas mentioned, as well as all fishermen and seafarers, to take extra precautions this week.
