Fish Netted in Crackdown, But Fishermen Off the Hook
Cambodia News (Battambang Province): According to the Battambang authorities, on August 23, 2022, they led a raid to crack down on suspected illegal fishing that was reportedly taking place in the Maung Russey district, Battambang province.
The authorities went to the scene, and they seized and destroyed 1,750m of illegal fishing net, 750 wooden poles, 2 illegal fishing traps, and 200kgs of small fish.
Incredibly, the fishermen had wind of the police arrival, and they had already fled the scene before the police arrived, so no arrests were made.
