We don't understand because it's not our own business but their. :pAnchor Moy wrote:Little Salary, if the refugees were settled in Australia, they would probably have health care paid for the rest of their lives. This is why I think that 1 year of health insurance for these people is a very cheap deal for the Australian government to pay. Then after 1 year, the refugees will have nothing, just like most Cambodians.
So, you see, Australia is making a big saving on this.
(If you don't count the $50million or so that they paid to the Cambodian government.)
Don't worry, it's normal if you don't understand this; I don't understand this either. The whole affair defies logic. (It makes no sense.)
If the next refugees get best treat like the first ones?

No one can answer these questions, we need to wait and see. I think it is better to hide their indetities for awhile for their safe. We alredy know that all the refugees are supported by Australia's money, but we don't know what will happen next few years. How many refugees will relocate ? Who will solve this issue? Cambodia Governt ? Everyone think that both government get differrnet benefit more than humanity.juansweetpotato wrote:Be interesting to see what happens to them. How long will they be anonymous for do you think? What kind of reaction can they expect from the local population if their identities are known?
Interesting view and one I can understand. In the UK when asylum seekers are seen to be getting things that the locals aren't from the government, it breeds a lot of discontent. Mainly against the asylum seekers more than the government.prahkeitouj wrote:Because they are afraid that the refugees will not happy to live in the Kingdom.
Poor Cambodians will die because of heart attacked.

Exactly. The Cambodian govt has done an outrageously good deal here. Not that you will see any of it; but those rich people in high places, who deserve to get even richer because they have good karma, can thank the Australian government for their extraordinary generosity.( And as everyone knows, giving creates karma, so Tony Abbott will probably be upgraded to a beetle in his next life.)Samouth wrote: I am okay because that is Australian government's money.
And I would also like to take in some asylum seekers if there are any spare Just for the karma of course.

I paid a large amount of Australian income tax last year - can I have some back if I promise to stay here?

You are right. Abbott government is making bong thom in Cambodia become even richer. For us we can't do anything to against our government as you all know. Our government has all the power. I wonder why Australian government chose Cambodia to dump these refugee why no somewhere else like Burma or Loas, they might need this good money too.Anchor Moy wrote:Exactly. I expect it was because both those countries turned them down.
