We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Phnom Penh: On July 14 at 11:20am, there was fire at the Foreign Correspondents' Club (FCC) Cafe and Bakery on street 178, Sangkat Chey Chumnea, Phnom Penh. 3 fire engines were called by the authorities, who then put out the fire with some assistance from the neighbors.

I'm glad to hear it wasn't badly damaged, it's a lovely building. It's not a "colonial" building as many people might think. It's just two shophouses that were knocked together in about 1993 and given some touches to look like the place was much older. I only ever go there now when someone is visiting, but it is still one of the longest-lasting bars in the city, even if it has been somewhat of a tourist trap for much of that time.

Building looks good John. Never been in myself, once sat outside on the riverside listening to music! A band was singing a funny song about driving in Phnom Penh. :D

Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

It's a nice place to sit and watch the world go by below. I used to dig it upstairs at the old Kiwi bakery for that reason too.

I think the building in the back yard is the original colonial building. There's hopes of rebuilding it one day, depending on finances.

At least some part of the complex is pre-KR as it took artillery shelling from the far bank of the river, as the journalists decamped to the Raffles IIRC.

Third time that bakery has caught fire - last year the front doors exploded as well

Suspect the wiring cannot handle the baking equipment
