The stairs lead straight up to the room, so the fluid on the stairs is the same as stuff around the body.

I can only assume 2 things:

Either

1) That stuff running down the stairs ISN'T blood, because if it were, it would have been from days ago. Someone should have noticed it.

2) That's just a messy guesthouse and those stains have been there forever.

Either way, that's a nasty mess.

And it most definitely looks like the carpet was moved a few inches, as you can see a line where the liquid dried a few inches away from it.

And that guy standing on the bed with flip-flops on suggests that a lot has been disturbed by the time the pics were taken. :bad:

Sympathy to the family, who might want to scroll past the following.
Spoiler:
^ looks like decaying 'body product' to me, but there's a lot of it. Possibly voided his bladder after death and contributed, but you'd assume that would dry before that level of decay would occur. He must have been a very large man to produce that amount of product. From experience, the smell would have been noticeable days ago.

Uh, so, so it was about money?

It seems he didn't have the $1300 for this month or last month. That's $2600. Then the standard fee for removing a body from a guesthouse is $800-$1000. But the police usually extort that from the owner. Here the dead body is the owner. Maybe they'll make the landlord pay. That puts the landlord out $3400 - $3600, minus the deposit.

This answers some questions if accurate:

Witnesses at the scene claimed they had seen the door locked from the outside of the house for a couple days. This morning the smell broke out, leading to a police investigation.

Police estimated the man had been dead for two or three days. He was reportedly found hanging from a curtain rod.

I guess the stairs where the ooze was dripping down was in a area where people wouldn't walk past and see. I was thinking that the stairs where in the hallway where people would be walking by and hopefully notice.

And they have detailed how Timo Jokinen hung himself.

It should also be noted that your Khmer neighbors keep accurate records of when your door is locked and unlocked. Image
