Finnish Expat Perttu Johannes Aarnio Arrested at River Lodge in Kampot with Marijuana and a Bamboo Bong

Kampot, Cambodia: A Finnish National identified as Perttu Johannes Aarnio, 38, has been arrested for possession of marijuana and a bamboo bong.

According to DAP News, Anti-Criminal police officers cooperated with provincial immigration police and Kampot provincial police officers under the are under the command of brigadier general, En Giva, a crackdown-chief general. They were informed to implement some procedures from Kampot Provincial brigadier Mao Chanmak Turith of how to deploy police to stop and take legal action against a foreign man who committed a crime at 10:00 on February 25, 2016.

This incident occurred at a foreign-owned establishment called The River Lodge Bar and Restaurant which is located at North Tvy Village, Orndort Khmer commune, Kampot city.

Anti-Drug Provincial Department police told the Derm Ompel Center that the suspected criminal, Perttu Johannes Aarnio, 38, who is from Finland, came to visit staff at the restaurant when he was arrested.

Police have confiscated Perttu Johannes Aarnio's marijuana and paraphernalia, which includes his bamboo water bong.

The Finnish man has been arrested and will be sent to court for legal action.

Another example of one person behaving completely irresponsibly and ruining whatever laid-back atmosphere is left there by flagrantly smoking up in such a public place that police almost have to make a show of force. If he kept it private and didn't flaunt it in people's faces, he would probably have had no issues. If you want to get high, rent a house, maintain a low profile, keep the smoke away from the neighbors, and don't be so frickin' obvious about breaking the law. I guess some people are only content having an audience to see them smoke up as a sad validation of how cool and carefree they think they are.

Well said. The amount he was busted with looks tiny, but he was obviously attracting attention by for a start looking like a doofus and secondly carrying a 2 foot long gigantic bamboo bong around. I notice he was also supposedly carrying around an ax, and a pouch of throwing knives. That's kind of weird, but who knows, maybe he's just some kind of lumberjack or backwoodsman or something. Anyway, it's not exactly the capture of Pablo Escobar we're talking about.

When i first came to Cambodia & stayed at the old GBT guest house every balcony was filled with pot smokers!
I am not the heavy smoker that i was but still like the odd joint, bit of a worry!
My auntie for example is a well to do business owner in her 60's, she shuts down for the Scottish winter & travels to Goa knowing that she doesn't have to look over her shoulder when she has a smoke. This can influence peoples travel plans.
I can understand being arrested for the axe & knives but should of left the green out of it!

I don't know about that, I've been in India a couple of times, once for a few months, and Goa was the only place I saw police searches. I even got searched myself on the beach at Arumbol. They didn't find the charas I had cunningly hidden in a sunglasses case.

I'm guessing the guy in the purple shorts is the owner, then. Said in the KT he'd been asked multiple times to pack it in before the cops were called, although why he didn't kick him out if he was being a dick is another question, that amount of plod would cost a lot of money.
