Siem Reap: After police questioning, it has been determined that the Filipino man arrested in Bavet was part of an organized crime ring of Filpinos in Siem Reap, preying on foreign tourists. The scammers would attract a tourist with a friendly story and invite them for a meal at their house, but then they would get the victim to play poker and lose money.

A woman, who is believed to belong to the same set-up, was previously arrested in Siem Reap and has been held in custody since October. Police were on the lookout for the two Filipino men who were working with her. They had been identified and all Cambodian borders were alerted when this man tried cross the Bavet border to escape to Vietnam. Cambodian police are still searching for the third member of the gang.

Amazing. the dinosaurs used to fall for this scam. How can people still be suckered by it? So far this year only 2 attempts on me
"those are very nice glasses sir, where did you get them?" - 20 year old metal frames with all the paint flaking off!
"thats a nice shirt sir" - ignoring the wine stain and missing buttons!
Maybe we can collect Filipino chatup lines?

I take it he was not so successful judging by his attire. But then don't judge a book.
